Methodology
How Cloud Storage Prices gathers the numbers.
What we compare
- Storage — USD per GB-month, standard/"hot" tier.
- Egress — USD per GB of data transferred out to the internet (the cost that usually dominates).
- Operations — write (Class A) and read (Class B) request prices per 1,000, where applicable.
All figures are for a representative US region and the standard tier so providers line up directly.
Where the data comes from
Rows marked live are pulled from providers' official pricing APIs — e.g. the Azure Retail Prices API (which Microsoft explicitly sanctions for price comparison) and the AWS Price List feed. Other rows are listed from each provider's official public pricing page, with a source link on the provider page. Object-storage list prices change rarely, so listed values are refreshed periodically.
Important caveats
- Free-egress terms vary: R2 and Wasabi/IDrive (fair-use), Backblaze B2 (free up to 3× stored), DigitalOcean (1 TB bundled). The calculator uses a simplified model — confirm specifics on the provider's site.
- Regional pricing, currency, taxes, minimums, and tiered discounts can change the real bill.
- Always verify current pricing with the provider before committing.
How we make money
Some outbound links are affiliate links and may earn a commission at no cost to you. It never changes the ordering — providers are always sorted by price.
